The third people's Hospital of Bengbu City was established on November 3, 1953. It was named "Bengbu Central Hospital" with the approval of the municipal government in 2004. In 1996, it was awarded the third class a hospital by the former Ministry of health of the people's Republic of China. It is one of the first Class-A hospitals in Anhui Province integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research and prevention. In 2019, the number of outpatient and emergency departments was 1.129 million, the number of discharged patients was 47000, and 42000 sets of surgical treatment were completed, of which 63.9% were class III and IV operations.
